About the Open Day

The 2023 RIKEN Open Day in Kobe will feature a variety of events that people of all ages, from children to adults, can enjoy! Event include guided tours of laboratories and cutting-edge research facilities, talks by researchers and hands-on activities.

In April 2002, the RIKEN Kobe Institute (now RIKEN Kobe Campus) was established as a core research institution for life science research of the Kobe Biomedical Innovation Cluster being promoted by the City of Kobe.
The following research centers are conducting research at the Kobe Campus.

[ How to register to attend on-site programs ]

STEP 1

Find a program you want to participate in!

First, find the program you want to attend from the list of programs.
There are a wide variety of programs allowing visitors to have hands-on experiences and to interact and hear about the latest research from researchers and specialists in different fields!

Check the program map and time schedule for the locations and times of all programs, and pre-register (first-come, first-served) for events in areas that require pre-registration.

STEP 2

Register for a program (Note: Registration site is only available in Japanese)

Fill in all information requested on the page and click register. When your registration is complete, you will receive a confirmation email.

If there was a mistake in the email address entered in the form, you will not receive a confirmation email, so please ensure to double check the email address you entered.

いきもんぬりえ

Ikimon means "living organisms" in the Japanese Kansai dialect.
The bodies of living organisms are very complex, and at the same time, very beautiful.
This is why we decided to make coloring pages featuring living organisms!

The theme this time is the “Mosquito”.
They arrive in the summer... They make an annoying, high-pitched buzzing sound when they fly near your ear. Then you suddenly notice a red spot on your body, which starts to itch like crazy.
Yes, it’s those pesky mosquitoes.
You might think you know all about them, but let's take a close look at the body structure of the female mosquito.

Notice to visitors

Please refrain from coming to the campus by car.
For those with disabilities, please ask a nearby attendant to be led to a dedicated parking space.

Pets are not permitted on-site.
This does not apply to service dogs accompanying persons with disabilities.

There will be staff taking photographs of the event.
Photographs will be taken to document the event. Please note that these photographs may be posted on the website or used for other publicity purposes.
