About the Open Day
RIKEN Open Day in Kobe is an annual event that allows the general public to come and visit the campus to learn firsthand about the research and development being carried out at RIKEN. Researchers and staff at working at the forefront of scientific research will be on hand to introduce and explain their cutting-edge research. A wide range of programs are available for people of all ages to enjoy, from tours of research facilities and lectures given by RIKEN scientists, to crafts and coloring for children. Come and explore the science that will create the future.
How to join the event
STEP 1
Get ready to go to the RIKEN Open Day in Kobe
Visitor registration is required to join the event. (Admission is free)

*During times of congestion, priority for entering venue will be given to those who have registered in advance. You can also register on-site on Open Day, but please note that it may take some time before you are admitted into the venue as you will have to wait in the admission line after completing your registration.

- The default language of the registration form is Japanese, however the form can be automatically translated according to your browser's language settings.
- After registration, registration information will be sent to your email, but only in Japanese. Some email applications will allow you to translate text into the language setting of your email application.
- If you have any questions, please send them to openhouse-kobe-soumu[a]ml.riken.jp (*replace [a] with @) Inquiries can be sent in English.

Find the events you want to participate in!

There are a wide variety of events offered, including those that are experience-based and those where you can meet and learn about the latest research from researchers and specialists working in different fields.

STEP 3
Check-in onsite!
On Open Day, visitors will need to check-in using a web application. The link to the web application is included in the email you received after completing the visitor registration.
Please don't forget the email address and password used for registration as you will need this information to log in to the web application on-site.
You can also check-in by printing out and bringing the “Visitor Confirmation Card” which contains your registration information with you on-site.

We are holding the 5th Annual Ikimon Coloring Contest!
The theme this time is the “Hair”.
The skin which covers the surface of our body is in fact the largest organ of human body. It is the hairs on the skin that help us to sense pain, itchiness, and hot and cold, to lower our body temperature by producing sweat, and to form goose bumps to protect us from the cold.
Color and explore the base of the skin hair follicle, which has a range of different functions.

Refrain from coming to the campus by car. For persons with disabilities, a dedicated parking space will be available for use; please ask a nearby attendant on Open Day to be led to the parking space.
Pets are not permitted on-site. Service dogs accompanying persons with disabilities are exempt from this rule.
Entry to the venue may be restricted during busy times.
Last admission is 3:30 p.m. The reception desk may closer earlier depending on the situation.
