Keihanna Campus
The Keihanna Science City (officially known as the Kansai Science City) is located in the Keihanna Hills, a region that includes parts of Kyoto, Osaka, and Nara prefectures. More than 150 research, academic, and cultural facilities across 12 clusters engage in research and development in a variety of fields, including environmental and energy sciences, ICT, biosciences, optical science, and nanoscience.
Since FY 2016, RIKEN has been conducting research activities in collaboration with universities, research institutes, and companies in the region, and is currently promoting a robotics project for a future society where humans and AI/robots will coexist flexibly, development of fundamental technologies of AI for solving social issues, and development of drug discovery platforms using iPS cells, mainly in the Seika and Nishi-Kizu areas.
